Third World Projects

When you have a decent place to live, a nice job, food to eat and clean water to drink every day, poverty may not be something you think about. But for billions of people across the globe, poverty is a constant companion.

2.8 billion people survive on less than US$2 a day.

1.1 billion live in extreme poverty, ( less than US$1 a day).

Some 840 million go to bed hungry each night.

There are eight simple goals that the international community aims to achieve by 2015.

They include: eradicating extreme poverty and hunger; achieving universal primary education; promoting gender equality and empowering women; reducing child mortality; improving maternal health; combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; ensuring environmental sustainability.

These are worthy ideals and goals for the Governments to achieve.

But we all need to play our part.  We can’t leave it to the Governments. We are doing our bit so join us and help. Raising awareness is an important part of the fight against global poverty, so if you are reading this you have a part to play.

We simply cannot exist in this world and not share our resources with those less fortunate.

There are numerous ways to get involved and help. Become informed about issues related to poverty; Donate some of your money and time or even both. Even in the wealthiest countries there are pockets of poverty.

Look around. Get involved. Together we can achieve a lot.

The problems are huge but...

LITTLE BY LITTLE YOU CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS
